Martinez Lake, Arizona

Pontoon boats, House boats, big boats and small boats,  power boats and even fishing boats all make their way to Martinez Lake, Arizona. Martinez Lake Resort was started about 50 years a go as a fisherman's camp. Upon completion of the  of the Imperial Dam in the 1940s, Imperial Reservoir  was created. This lake is one of many down the Colorado River. Before any of the Dams were built, the Lower Colorado served as a waterway for steamboats that carried passengers and cargo from the river to the California Gulf and back. Martinez Lake is a located in Yuma County, Arizona,and is about 300-500 acres depending on where you think the lake ends and river begins. Martinez Lake is surrounded by several smaller lakes such as, Hidden Shores, Icebox, and Bullet Hole. The lake also serves as a border for California and Arizona thus, the California Fish and Game, Arizona Fish and Game, California Safety Patrol and Yuma County Sheriffs office Patrol the Area.

This Lake is a Fisherman's Dream and during the hot summer nights a party city. It has drasticly increased in popularity thus making property value high. A small home could easily cost over $650,000. 

Martinez Lake attracts lost of eager fishermen looking to catch some big bass, catfish, bluegill, crappie, tilapia, and striped bass.

According to the BLM Arizona the best way to get there is  "Use Interstate 8 to Yuma, AZ.  Take the 4th Avenue exit to Imperial County Road S-24.  Go north approximately 22 miles to Senator Wash Road. Turn left onto Senator Wash Road and follow it for approximately 3 miles to the campgrounds. This Long Term Visitor Area is located North of Yuma on the California side of the Colorado River. "
